Urban Growplex

This innovative project envisions a transformative approach to urban food production and distribution in the United States. The Urban Growplex integrates sustainable architecture with modern agricultural practices, all within a single, multifunctional building. The ground floor is dedicated to a vibrant public farmers market, offering fresh, locally grown produce directly to the community. Above, food is cultivated throughout the structure, using vertical farming techniques and greenhouse spaces.

Sustainability is at the core of this design. The building would operate at near net-zero energy, powered by integrated solar panels, and is enhanced by abundant natural light and operable windows that promote natural ventilation. The Urban Growplex stands as a visionary model for future urban developments, merging sustainable living with the essential need for accessible, locally grown food.

Potrero Hill Children’s Library: A Journey of Discovery

Library, Potrero Hill

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Potrero Hill, San Francisco, this children’s library is designed to be more than just a place to read—it’s an adventure in exploration. The space is dynamic and inviting, encouraging young readers to engage with books as they move through the library. Large triangulated light wells pierce the structure, flooding the interior with natural light and creating an ever-changing play of shadows and illumination.

A striking feature of the library is the back wall, a towering three-story expanse of books that serves as both a visual centerpiece and a functional ramp, guiding patrons upward through the collection. This design invites children and their families to ascend through levels of knowledge and imagination, making every visit a new journey.
